Which calculator do I need?
- Buying a home: the mortgage calculator includes property tax, insurance and PMI in US mode, and repayment or interest-only in UK mode.
- Saving or investing: the compound interest calculator adds monthly deposits and shows the result in today's money after inflation.
- A car, personal or home loan quoted as EMI: the EMI calculator gives the monthly instalment and total interest.
How we build these calculators
Each calculator uses the standard published formula, which is shown on its page with a worked example you can check by hand. We test the results against the formula, state every assumption next to the result, and update a page only when its content actually changes.
